Meet the Site Operations Team
Tara Woolgar – Site Operations Manager
- Started work for canvas in 1998
- Travelled to Paris, Picardy, Luxembourg, Germany, Brittany, Vendee, Loire, Argeles, Dordogne, Biarritz, Cevennes, Pyrennes, Ardeche, Burgundy, Jura, Cote d’azur, Spain, Croatia, Holland and Italy
- Responsibilities include overall supervision of the Site operations team ensuring that recruitment and training processes are followed and procedures updated. During the summer my role is to ensure that staff are supported and standards maintained throughout the programme.
- Positive points about working for Canvas are that the people are friendly; you can develop your existing skills and learn lots of new ones, using these to progress to management roles quickly. You will visit some fantastic places and meet some friends for life!
Katie Watt – Site Operations Co-ordinator
- Started work for canvas in 1999
- Travelled to Brittany, Vendee, Royan, Biarritz, Spain, Dordogne, Loire, Paris / Picardy, Normandy & Italy
- Responsibilities now are recruiting staff for all overseas positions including Maintenance and Warehouse. Included in this is interviewing in the regional locations and visiting Universities and Colleges attending Recruitment Fairs and giving presentations. During the summer, my main role is providing support for all overseas staff by phone and visits.
- Positive points about working for Canvas are it’s a friendly company with an emphasis on all working together. We want to give customers and staff the best summer experience possible. You gain fantastic skills – anything from giving excellent customer service to fixing a loo!
Samantha Spinks – Site Operations
- Started work for canvas in 2005
- Travelled to Brittany, Normandy & Picardy, Vendee, South West France, Languedoc & Roussillon Regions.
- Responsibilities - My main role in the winter is recruiting overseas staff. I am involved in each stage of the process from checking applications to offering and placing staff. My main role in the summer is providing support for all overseas staff from Area Managers to Campsite couriers.
- Positive points about working for Canvas is the personal support we provide. You will get to know the members of the site operations team through interviews, training courses and visits to site and as a result you will always know who you are talking to when you call us.
Jen Clunas – Site Operations Co-ordinator
- Started work for canvas in 2003
- Travelled to Costa Brava, Costa Dorada, Lake Garda, Adriatic Coast and the Cote D’Azur.
- Responsibilities in the winter are recruiting overseas staff. I am involved in each stage of the process from checking applications to offering and placing staff. My main role in the summer is providing support for all overseas staff from Area Managers to Campsite couriers.
- Positive points about working for Canvas are: Learning loads whilst working abroad and then being able to pass your knowledge on, meeting loads of amazing people and continuing to see some fab places whilst working for Canvas. The hard work, great people and fun times are the best things about the company.
Jim Rideout – Site Operations Assistant

Travelled to the Pas de Calais, Normandy, Rome and Tuscany.

Responsibilities now are administrative duties in the Site Operations department involving a wide range tasks that vary between summer and winter. The work includes recruitment and preparation for the holiday season before providing support for on-site staff in the summer.

Positive points about working for Canvas are: Working with people who are dedicated to providing the best service possible; the relaxed, friendly atmosphere; getting to know the on-site staff and the opportunity to learn new skills.
Gillian Rodger – Overseas Training Assistant
- Started work for canvas in April 2007
- Travelled to Paris
- Responsibilities now are during the winter I assist with the design of training courses for couriers and provide support for others in the operations team. During the summer I will deliver training courses in France and when not in France will provide support for staff out in the field.
- Positive points about working for Canvas are that although it is an established company it is not stuck in its ways and any new ideas are taken seriously. The staff, from the office staff to those out in the field are friendly and always prepared to help with any questions I may have and I get the opportunity to travel and meet new people.
Dave Harper – Activity Co-ordinator
- Started work for canvas March 2001
- Travelled to France, Ile de France, Picardy, Brittany, Normandy, Vendee, Argeles, French Riviera, Dordogne, Cevennes, Tarn, Jura, Camargue and Pyrenees. Spain – Costa Brava. Italy – Venice Coast. Luxembourg and Holland.
- Responsibilities are recruitment and training of Children’s Couriers, Buzz Couriers and Wild & Active Couriers. Purchasing of all equipment used in activity clubs. Visiting and supporting Activity Couriers during the season, and making sure all participants at our clubs have the best experience possible.
- Positive points about working for Canvas Holidays are that it is a big company that still has a friendly and caring feel to it. You get to meet lots of Couriers who are having a great summer, firstly at the training courses and then the out and about on the sites. You get to see some amazing campsites in great places.
